Learn about different ways school counselors can partner with primary care, behavioral health and other provider types to meet students’ diverse needs. Explore ways in which the “burden of care” can be shared along an appropriate spectrum of collaborative and complementary supports, resulting in effective care for young people and reduced school counselor/provider burn out. Hear about the school-based health center model as one approach to this type of partnership, as well as the School-Based Health Alliance, the national school-based health care advocacy, technical assistance and training organization based in Washington, D.C.

Katy Stinchfield is a senior program manager with the School-Based Health Alliance. She is both a licensed professional counselor and a licensed school counselor in Oregon, as well as a registered play therapist. Her passion is ensuring that young people from all walks of life have the opportunity and ability to access quality education.
